The Expert's Mind: Graham Hawthorne, Fugan Dineen, Darlene Francis
Celebrated for superb musicality and versatility, drummer GRAHAM HAWTHORNE is a central figure in New York world, pop and jazz music. He has played and recorded with such diverse artists as David Byrne, Paul Simon, James Brown, Suzanne Vega, Harry Belafonte, Aretha Franklin, Hubert Laws, and many others worldwide.
Drummer and Percussionist, FUGAN DINEEN is a PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology at Wesleyan University. He recently completed a Fulbright Fellowship in Chennai, India where he collaborated with local artists and continued to study the mridangam a traditional double-sided drum, and konakkol, a form of vocal percussion.
DARLENE FRANCIS is an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience, Psychology and Public Health at UC Berkeley. Her research interests include behavioral neuroscience and developmental psychobiology, and the interplay between the environment and neurobiology.
