Buddha of the Piano Film Screening Collaborative Families Benefit
Sonoma County pianist/filmmaker, Antonio Iturrioz, and Ky Boyd, owner of the Rialto Cinemas Lakeside, have generously donated all proceeds from the World Premiere Screening of critically acclaimed new film, The Buddha of the Piano, to benefit nonprofit ACT Solutions, Inc.'s Collaborative Families Pilot Project.

Filmmaker/Pianist Antonio Iturrioz presents, The Buddha of the Piano, the first and only documentary film on the life and music of the legendary pianist, Leopold Godowsky and includes Antonio's beautiful performances of Godowsky's extraordinary compositions. The film is narrated by Dr. Charles Sepos, Executive Producer and Host of KRCB-91 FM's arts preview program, Curtain Call.

The Buddha Benefit Screening will be held at 7pm on March 25, 2010 at the Rialto Cinemas Lakeside, 551 Summerfield Road, in Santa Rosa, CA 95405. Benefit tickets are $25 and include a bonus short, Q&A and a Meet the Maestro Reception after the show. Dr. Sepos will host the evening's events. Doors open at 6:45pm. Open seating. The Program will start promptly at 7pm.

The Buddha of the Piano has received early critical recognition and enthusiastic reviews from living piano legends, Byron Janis, Gary Graffman and Marc-Andre Hamelin. Musicians and Music Scholars alike love the Buddha!

Noted pianist, Byron Janis, said about The Buddha of the Piano, "Many bravos to Antonio Iturrioz for giving us this wonderfully informative and much-needed documentary on one of our under appreciated and greatest musicians, Leopold Godowsky.  It allows us to again remember the legendary life and career of this brilliantly unique pianist, composer, and arranger, and his immeasurably important contributions to the world of music."

Marc-Andre Hamelin, pianist, said, "Antonio Iturrioz has performed a wonderful service to music lovers in general and pianophiles in particular, by producing this lovingly researched film."

This special benefit screening of The Buddha of the Piano supports ACT Solutions Collaborative Families Pilot Project in providing sliding scale out-of-court collaborative family law, co-mediation, coaching and neutral financial decision-making support services for income-eligible Sonoma County couples with children.

ACT Solutions' Collaborative Families Project mission is to assist self-represented parents in preventing conflict, negotiating mutually beneficial collaborative divorce and family law agreements, and developing workable co-parenting plans necessary to raise emotionally healthy children.  The Buddha of the Piano Benefit will also support development of a series of Collaborative Families workshops for self-represented parties.

Antonio Iturrioz's first film, The Art of the Left Hand, enjoyed several encore KRCB public television performances and is now released on DVD.

Antonio Iturrioz will be available to autograph DVDs of The Buddha of the Piano, and, The Art of the Left Hand, after the show.

ACT Solutions thanks Rialto Cinemas Lakeside, Owner, Ky Boyd, Director of Marketing and Community Relations, Melissa Hatheway; Sonoma County's own Pianist/Filmmaker, Antonio Iturrioz; and, Dr. Charles Sepos, Host of KRCB-FM 91's Arts Preview Program Curtain Call (Fridays, 12-1pm, Pacific Time) for making this benefit possible.  We encourage the Sonoma County community to show its appreciation for the community service leadership they offer our county.
