Weaving a Different Kind of Necklace
From historic materials to the contemporary, an increasing number of artists, designers, and makers are exploring the combination of disparate mediums in which to pave new directions for the fiber arts. Exploring the possibilities in this synthesis of materials, the hands-on, afternoon-long jewelry workshop Multiple Media Woven Necklaces opens up the possibilities for combining metals with a variety of fibers including raw silk, wool, and ribbon. Combining these seemingly disparate elements, students will discover new possibilities for pushing their own creative pursuits into new directions.
