Disorient presents: BIOLUMINESCENCE II
Dear Bioluminescent Superstars,
I hope you are all as psyched as we are about the party Saturday night! This party has more art and participation and energy and excitement than anything I have been a part of in a long time! Can't wait to get out on the water!!
We are completely sold out, so please don't expect to be able to get a ticket at the door if you don't already have one.
Here are some last details on getting to the boat:
The Queen of Hearts will be docked at Pier 78 on the West Side Highway and 38th street.
(It is south of the large glass NY Waterways building at Pier 79.) The boarding will begin at 9:30pm, and the boat will disembark at 11pm sharp. Please donât be late as you may not make it on board!
One good way to get there is to take the NY Waterways off-peak bus service to the pier. According to their website, you just stand in a city bus stop that is on the NYWW bus route and flag them down. The bus will take you straight to the pier and runs every 20 minutes until 12:30 on Saturday night. Here's the link.

If youâre bringing a personal vehicle, you should be aware that there is no parking at the pier. I went there last Saturday night to check it out, and the closest place I found to park was at the Javits Center, which is one block West at 11th Avenue between 40th St and 34th St. (Be careful not to accidentally go into the Lincoln Tunnel!)
Once you arrive at the pier, we will be staging the line for the door and security in a heated boat house on the pier. However, we are not sure that everyone will fit in the house at once, so you may have to wait outside for a short while. (We will certainly try to avoid this, but dress appropriately just in case.)
Once at the door you, will be searched by security. They will confiscate any drinks (including water) as well as any contraband and/or weapons. We apologize for this, but it's standard policy for the boat that we cannot change. The boat management has been very accommodating and generous with our party, and our security will keep everything safe, so please be friendly with them. (They will be told to be sweet to our guests as well.)
Once through the security and door, you will go directly onto the boat and have the opportunity to check your coats and over-layers. (You will want to because it is going to be HOT on the boat!)
The fun will last for hours, lives will be changed, friends and lovers will be made, and good times will be had by all!
As we know you will be ravenous after partying like pornj stars all night, hot food will be available for purchase from 2:30-4am.
Like at Burning Man, please leave no trace! Thank you for keeping things tidy, especially in the restrooms.
The boat will return and begin discharging its bioluminescent passengers at 4am. Those who want to keep the good vibe going can make their way to Brooklyn Urban Sanctuary for an after party called BOOMinESSENCE.

Presale tickets have sold out. There may be a few tickets available at the door: $30 in Bioluminescent costume; $35 in street attire.
Bioluminescence is a boat party on a 3-floor, climate-controlled paddle-wheel boat with 2 sound systems and 2 full bars. The theme is glowing and illuminated figures and art, an exploration of the crossroads of bio- and technological. Bioluminescence is a miracle of our natural and artificially enhanced illumination. Bioluminescence is a birthday party. Bioluminescence is a fundraiser for the 10th year of the Disorient theme camp at the Burning Man festival.

The participatory community event takes place on a boat called the Queen of Hearts. We will set sail from Pier 78 (NY Waterway Midtown Terminal at West 39th Street & the West Side Highway). NY Waterway's free Manhattan bus service can get you there:

This is a birthday party, so dancers in cakes are fully encouraged, and reverse spanking birthday rule is in full effect!! Please dress in your best glow-wear, black light-reactive and underwater-themed outfits to show off your personal Bioluminescence!! Bring your own black lights!! This may be the best event of the year--so go all out!!
This is a LEAVE NO TRACE event. Thank you for cleaning up after yourself!

This is an event that requires your radical participation: be fabulous, be involved, bring artwork, volunteer. Please sign up if you would like to volunteer. Limited $10 reduced and free tickets may be available for volunteers who need them, particularly for those who create bioluminescent environments (including fluorescent and light art) and/or work extra hours on setup and disengage.
