Triskelion Arts Presents... stefanie nelson Dancegroup
TULA, meaning "balance" in Sanskrit, is an evening-length work by collaborators Wendy Leigh Wilf (Concept and Music) and Stefanie Nelson (Choreography). The structure of this work is based on the 7 chakras, or energy centers, which begin at the base of the spine and lead up towards the top of the head. As the piece progresses through the chakras, the music cycles through a variety of corresponding styles including jazz, blues and rock. Movement will be generated according to the body parts and specific associations with each chakra fight or flight, sexuality, ego, etc. TULA, a Western interpretation, brings both performers and audience on a captivating musical and visual journey in an effort to lead both to a more balanced state.
This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
