Ballet 5:8 presents Belteshazzar, a Perilous Tale
Ballet 5:8's visit to the Beverly Arts Center this season will be the Spring 2015 premiere of it's first full-length original ballet, "Belteshazzar," spanning the entire two hours of the program.
A fantastic event for the whole family, "Belteshazzar: A Perilous Tale" brings the Biblical story of Daniel to the stage in dramatic proportions. Featuring kings and kingdoms, royal egos, unfathomable dangers and mysterious dreams, the ballet takes audiences to the ancient Middle East for a wild ride alongside the young Daniel and his amazingly unwavering integrity. Set to the fabulous music of Benjamin Britten's score originally used for "Prince of the Pagodas," the ballet "Belteshazzar" is an important story for us all in a day where standing firm according to our convictions is easier said than done.

For Young Audience Members
Belteshazzar: A Perilous Tale is a fantastic event for the whole family in that it brings the well-known Biblical story of Daniel to life in a memorable way using the breathtaking art form and storytelling form of classical ballet. Most young audience members will greatly enjoy the performance; however, there are a few aspects of ballet, such as the realistic sound effect of lions roaring when Daniel is praying in the lion's den, that could be scary for younger children. We recommend that children be at least age seven to attend this ballet, but as every child is different, we urge parents to use discretion when deciding whether to bring younger children.
