Event
Writers Workshop 2015 by Novelist Abigail Padgett and LA Poet Laureate Ava Haymon
The Writers Workshop, conducted by Padgett and Haymon, will take place at beautiful Butler Greenwood Plantation on Saturday, February 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A brown bag lunch and other refreshments will be provided for the participants. Entitled "Until the Lion Learns to Speak, the Tale of the Hunt Belongs to the Hunter" (African Proverb), this writing workshop is open to all writers, and those who have little or no experience are most welcome to come. Different genres of poetry and prose (both fiction and nonfiction) writing will be covered in this workshop. As there is much that prose writers can learn from poets and vice versa, the poets and prose writers participating in this workshop will have some sessions together with Padgett and Haymon team teaching, but some sessions will be separate. The core concept of this workshop is subject matterwhat do the participants want to write about? Participants will learn to write sentences and/or poems that attract and seduce readers, and they will have their writing critiqued as well as critique others' work. Prose writers will learn how to get their work published. Registration for this workshop, including refreshments, is $125. Deadline for registration is February 15.
Registration for the Writers Workshop is limited: Only 20 people will be allowed to register.
