William Henry Pratt AKA Boris Karloff, of mixed heritage (Anglo-Indian), with a stutter and a lisp, bowed legs, and a chronic back problem, overcame tremendous odds to become one of Hollywood's most beloved and enduring screen legends.
Randy Bowser, with warmth, humor, and a free-flowing theatrical flare, has created a vivid portrait of this unusual and fascinating actor. "KARLOFF" celebrates art and life as it turns an affectionate spotlight on a man who was so much more than a monster.
Sara Karloff, the star's only child and head of Karloff Enterprises which controls the persona rights for all things Karloff, has authorized this, the only play ever written about the iconic horror movie star.
In the fantasy limbo of the one-person-play format, this otherwise private man opens up and relives key moments of his life, jumping back and forth in time, speaking the words he said to friends, the press, and his fellow actors. The surprising grace, wit and humility Karloff brought to the adventure of his life unfolds in a kaleidoscope of fast-paced vignettes.
Karloff fans (isn't that everyone?), don't miss THE premiere theatre event of the year.
