Three novelists discuss their latest works, all of which focus on family and the search for a true home. Davis's novel, Into the Go-Slow, follows Angie, a young woman from Detroit who travels to Lagos, Nigeria to unravel the mystery of her sister's death. In Sharma's book Family Life, Ajay and his older brother move from Delhi to Queens, where a tragic accident leaves one brother with brain damage. Yanique's epic multigenerational tale, Land of Love and Drowning, is set in the U.S. Virgin Islands and traces the history of its inhabitants during the course of the 20th century. The story follows two sisters whose genteel prospects are shattered after the sudden death of their father, a descendent of West African slaves and owner of a cargo ship. Presented in partnership with the Eta Nu Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Books will be sold at this event.
