Escena Sur: Contemporary Chilean Plays From November 20th to the 23rd 2014 The Bridge Theatre at Shetler Studios in Manhattan.
The Selection was taken from a publication of contemporary Chilean plays by Mexican publishing company Paso de Gato. El Impúdico Sueño de la Muerte by Mauricio Barría (Spanish) Directed by Roberto Cambeiro 8:30 PM- Lulú by Ana Harcha Directed by Tatiana Pandiani (Spanish) Saturday Nov. 22 7:30 PM- La Mala Clase by Luis Barrales (Spanish with English supertitles) Directed by Kyoung H. Park Translated by Soledad Lagos (Panel discussion and reception) Sunday Nov. 23 5:30 PM- Ulises o no, by Benito Escobar (Spanish) Directed by Daniel Irizarry
Even though Chile is thousands of miles away from The United States, the characters discuss the same concerns that people have in this country: education, society, relationships and work. These plays are relevant to life in the world nowadays where people are not guaranteed a better future but a future with a great deal of worries.
