About SEATING OPTIONS at Thrillpeddlers' Hypnodrome:
Our intimate venue seats only forty-five guests, so we do recommend purchasing your tickets in advance. "General Admission" seats are filled on a first-come basis and we encourage patrons to arrive early (the doors open at 7:30 p.m.). For couples seeking privacy and an extra jolt during Thrillpeddlers' signature blackout spook show, "Shock Box" seats are well worth the extra $10 per couple. Winner of SF Weekly's "Best of San Francisco" Award for "Best Bonus Theater Experience" our Shock Boxes are themed loveseats (Heaven and Hell, The Pharaoh's Tomb, and The Asylum of Shock), that offer the same opportunity for illicit trysting that was once a feature of the Parisian Theatre du Grand Guignol - thanks to a sheer curtain that can be drawn to conceal the goings on inside each private booth. In our "Turkish Lounge" for two, couples may bask in decadent languor and kick back among oriental carpets and silken pillows while enjoying the show.

THE TAXIDERMIST'S REVENGE - by Rob Keefe
A young chemist finds herself in unfamiliar and ominous territory when she goes to work for a taxidermist who fancies himself a great artist. Having been spurned repeatedly by the Academy, the taxidermist has called its members to his home to unveil what would become his most sensational piece of work yet!
THE SYSTEM OF DR. TARR AND PROFESSOR FETHER
- based on a play by André de Lorde, freely adapted by Paulo Biscaia Filho
A young female journalist who visits an insane asylum, famed for it's new "System of Soothing" discovers the asylum's director is less than inviting, but is determined to find her story even when faced with the sinister truth of her situation.
In 1845, Edgar Allan Poe published his short story THE SYSTEM OF DOCTOR TARR AND PROFESSOR FETHER, terrifying American audiences with his depiction of a madhouse turned on its head. André de Lorde, favorite playwright of the Le Théâtre du Grand-Guignol, theatricalized the piece to the French "Le Systéme du Dr Goudron et Pr Plume" in 1903. More recently, Paulo Biscaia Filho created a free adaptation of de Lorde's piece which was performed in Portuguese by his company Vigor Mortis in collaboration with Thrillpeddlers while the latter company toured in Rio de Janeiro in 2013. Now, Bascaia Filho has returned with a new English adaptation of his take on Poe's tale for Shocktoberfest 15! Thrillpeddler regulars Bruna Palmeiro and John Flaw will be rehearsing the piece with Biscaia Filho in Curitiba, Brazil, returning just in time to titillate SF audiences!
THE BLOODY DÉBUTANTE - A musical play by Scrumbly Koldewyn
A young girl is jilted at her coming-out party by her would-be date and massacres all the revelers in a fit of insanity. Rather than ending things at the coming-out ball, the young débutante draws out her revenge into an elaborate musical ritual!
DEATHWRITE - by Damien Chacona and Andy Wenger
Two novelists have recently finished work on the manuscript for their newest book. Tensions have risen during the writing process and, on the day they are ready to deliver the manuscript to the publisher, each has decided to go extreme lengths to obtain the glory and money from the novel for themselves.
As part of Ham Pants Productions, Andy Wenger and Damien Chacona have delighted SF audiences for years and now bring their honed writing and performing skills to Thrillpeddlers with DEATHWRITE.
