osimous theatre presents an intimate re-telling of the Pulitzer prize winning play, Our Town, by Thornton Wilder. Hailed as "the greatest American play ever written", Our Town is a play about community, friendship, love and life... our lives. It is a play about discovering life while we live it and experiencing it to the fullest with those we love. It is a play about savoring the beauty in each and every ordinary moment. It is a play about looking up into the night sky and seeing the stars again.
"We all know that something is eternal. And it ain't houses and it ain't names, and it ain't earth, and it ain't even the stars . . . everybody knows in their bones that something is eternal, and that something has to do with human beings. All the greatest people ever lived have been telling us that for five thousand years and yet you'd be surprised how people are always losing hold of it." Thornton Wilder, Our Town
Since its inception in 2011 osimous has produced the critically acclaimed The Pavilion by Craig Wright and its Jessie nominated production of Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, the latter selling out before it even opened! The company's mission, to change the way people see theatre, shines boldly through in this innovative production. In keeping with Wilder's own ground-breaking vision for intimacy, audiences will be seated among the actors in a local church space.
Featuring founding members Bob Frazer, Dawn Petten and Craig Erickson. There will be talkbacks following the Oct 7 and Oct 14 performances with the cast.
