South Shore Railroad/Notre Dame Tour
Ride from Chicago to South Bend, Indiana on the nation's last Inter-Urban Electric Commuter Railroad.
This narrated tour takes you from downtown through south side neighborhoods and passes into Indiana where you'll observe the steel towns, Indiana Dunes, and rural areas before reaching the end of the line at South Bend. Our expert narrator is Cynthia Ogorek, author of the book, Along the South Shore.
A comfortable coach bus will greet you at the station to take our group to the Studebaker Mansion and museum where we'll have a delightful lunch at the Tippecanoe Place Restaurant.
Next we visit the Notre Dame campus where we will spend time at the Visitor Center and gift shop before being treated to a tour of the historic Main Building with its famed Golden Dome, the Basilica, and the peaceful and lovely Grotto.
Our coach buses return us to Chicago following this all day trip.
