School for Lies by David Ives
In 2011, David Ives wrote an update of Moliere's classic play The Misanthrope, a satiric send- up of the upper class and the timeless farce of litigation culture. School for Lies retains Moliere's characters and situations, simply changing the language to English and updating the jokes and asides to the 21st century. Fans of Moliere, satire, or Ives' other work (Venus in Fur, All in the Timing) are well prepared for the non-stop hilarity of School for Lies. Everyone else- hold on to your wigs!
"Ives' mash-up of 21st-century and 17th-century humor is a testament to how little humanity has changed over the years." - Valois, R. "I laughed but once at the repeated joke that finds everybody referring to the character Clitander as Clitoris, and if there really is such a thing as a "fecophile," I don't want to know about it. "- C. Isherwood
