Delilah's Wish
Eight-year old Delilah lives on the North Side of St. Louis in a neighborhood full of people - all kinds of people - and people stories. Delilah doesn't miss anything, but she sure does have questions. Like what's up with Roy-Roy and Poochie anyway? Grandmama says it's gonna be all over if they keep up their nonsense. And why is Stanley always on punishment? He better not be hanging with those two... They're just trouble waiting to happen. Grandmama knows. She and Mr. Horowitz have been on this block so long, they know everything. Except who's taking Mr. Horowitz's paper every morning, and why somebody would set fire to the Abu's store, and when Mama's coming home from Iraq. Delilah is keeping a video journal so Mama will know all that's going on, all that's going down.
Mariah Richardson knows this neighborhood; it's where she grew up. In a performance that will touch your heart and make you think about what really matters, "Delilah's Wish" speaks truthfully about the rich diversity that is St. Louis.
