THE MCGOWAN TRILOGY tells of Irish revolutionary Victor McGowan; cold blooded, warm-hearted and conflicted. In DANCING AT LUNACY, McGowan ignores court martial protocol. In THE LONG WET GRASS, McGowan is forced to choose between his commitment to the cause and a woman who was his childhood companion. In BOYS SWAM BEFORE ME, McGowan faces painful revelations from his past.

Seamus Scanlon (Playwright) is a native of Galway, Ireland whose writing has appeared in the Irish Times, the Sunday Tribune, Promethean, Journal of Experimental Fiction, Review of Post Graduate English Studies, Global City Review, the Roanoke Review , Gemini Magazine and Noir by Noir West (Arlen House, 2014). His story collection As Close As You'll Ever Be (Cairn Press, 2012) garnered many positive reviews. Recent achievements include a residency at the MacDowell Artists Colony and a fellowship from the Center for Fiction in New York. He is a Resident Artist at the cell, where his development as a dramatist began. the cell presented an acclaimed production of DANCING AT LUNACY in 2012, and Seamus' other plays have been read as part of the cell's monthly salons, Arthouse INKubator series and NEWvember New Play Festival. Seamus is a Carnegie Corporation/New York Times award-winning librarian at the City College of New York's Center for Worker Education.

Kira Simring (Director) is the Artistic Director of the cell. A professional director for over 15 years, Kira has worked closely with writers to develop and make manifest their work. Most recently, she directed the New York Times Critic's Pick Hard Times, An American Musical by Larry Kirwan. Outside of the cell, Kira's direction has been seen in venues throughout NYC, including The New Theatre Row Theatres, City Center's VOX at NYU's Skirball Theatre, The Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space and 80 St. Mark's Theatre. Regional venues include CenterStage in Baltimore, New Village Arts in San Diego, and The Connecticut Grand Opera.

Curated and coordinated by the New York-based Origin Theatre Company, George C. Heslin artistic director, Origin's 1st Irish, the only festival of its kind to focus exclusively on the work of Irish playwrights, is the city's only all-Irish theatre festival. Throughout the year, Origin, now in its twelfth season, produces the New York and American premieres of plays by emerging European playwrights.
