Kaleidoscope 2009, The Third Annual National People of Color Cabaret
The Third Annual National People of Color Cabaret show, Kaleidoscope, comes to The San Francisco Bay Area!
The first of its kind in burlesque, Kaleidoscope is dedicated to showcasing performers of color. The broad range of performances from drag to burlesque, song to aerial art, promises to be erotic, sexy, and witty! Join us as we represent and transform burlesque as it is and was. Kaleidoscope entertains, inspires, and arouses. Enjoy the nations best in burlesque and buy your tickets now!
Tickets sold at the door for $25 dollars, doors open at 7pm.
Dont forget to join us September 25th and 26th from 10am-4pm at the Mission Cultural Center for an array of pre-show workshops. Explore your understanding of desire and the POC history of burlesque while learning saucy choreography, burlesque on the cheap, make-up application, pasty-making, tassle-twirling, glove removal, and other tricks of the trade from the pros.
This years line up is hosted by her most imperial sovereign majesty, ALEKSA MANILA (Seattle). Starring Burlesque Legend Toni Elling (Detroit); the Creole queen of burlesque, Desire D'Amour (Tucson); femme fatale, Orchid Mei (Denver); the beautiful song bird, Sheu Sheu LHaure (Montana); Southern Beauty, The Lady Ms. Vagina Jenkins (Atlanta; the tempestuous temple of temptation, Shanghai Pearl (Seattle); and flirty theory-readin femme, Ginger Snapz (Seattle);
Kaleidoscope will feature the best local performers of color in the Bay Area! Harlems Shake's founder, Simone De La Getto: Queen of Carnival, Kellita of Hot Pink Feathers; and the shimmy of the Bay Cherry Gallete; consummate candy fag, Thisway/Thatway; fussy drag queen/king, Charleston Chu; innovative aerialists, y la sinverguenza show founder and Ms Gay Latina 2005 and 2006 La Chica Boom.
Kaleidoscopes mission is to entertain and cast light on the knowledge, actions, and transformations that pertain to people of color performance and race-positive sexuality.
