"Dear & Yonder" Surf Movie Premiere and Benefit Dinner
**** SPECIAL NOTICE ****************************************

THE DINNER & MOVIE ARE STILL HAPPENING! THE FIRE IS NOT AFFECTING PIE RANCH OR HWY ONE. SEE YOU THERE!

The dinner has sold out but all are welcome to see the movie, which is $5 at the Pie Ranch barn door. Movie starts at 9pm, but come at 8pm for live bluegrass music, silent art auction, coffee and pie. Bring warm clothes and a blanket or chair for outdoor showing of the movie "Dear & Yonder".

************************************************************

Santa Cruz filmmaker Tiffany Morgan Campbell and Andria Lessler of San Francisco's ode to ocean-going females - Dear and Yonder - features a dynamic cast of characters whose stories highlight their skills in the water as well as their positive relations with the natural world, each other and themselves.

Logging in three years of travel, surf, and editing, Campbell (wife of filmmaker Thomas Campbell) and Lessler have documented a diversity of female surf-lives across the globe. The film explores the relationship between women and their home breaks (the Dear) as well as featuring ladies who search out waves in the far-flung corners of the Earth (the Yonder). A variety of characters and waves spanning the globe are beautifully captured, almost entirely in 16mm film.

A wide community of artists, filmmakers, and surfers supported the creation of the film, and the Santa Cruz premier continues to build this community focus with local farmers, chefs, musicians and surfers converging for a benefit dinner preceding the showing on Friday, August 14 at the Pie Ranch barn up by Ano Nuevo. The Mattson 2, a young jazz duo comprised of twin brothers, Jarred and Jonathan Mattson, will perform during the benefit dinner, which will support their parents (one of which is battling cancer, the other recovering from the removal of a brain tumor). The event will also feature a silent art auction to help with the remaining production costs of the film, and will include works by Santa Cruz artists Dave Gardner, David Kimball Anderson, Nikki Brooks, Thomas Campbell and Tiffany Campbell.

We see this event as an opportunity to bring together all different creative parts of the community in celebration of the diversity and life that makes this community unique.
