VisionFest 09 is Filmmakers Alliances' yearly celebration that brings together the best of L.A.'s independent filmmaking community.
Filmmakers Alliance will again bestow its coveted VISION AWARD - and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the award. Past Vision Award recipients include Mike Figgis, Terry Gilliam, Wim Wenders, Allison Anders, Alexander Payne, David O. Russell, Werner Herzog, Michael and Mark Polish and Kevin Smith.
This year's Vision Award recipient is producer TED HOPE (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0394046).
The presentation is preceded by the introduction of the Los Angeles Short Filmmaking Competition Grant winner and the Alex Kirkwood Award for Membership Excellence.
This is all followed by a program of the best short films produced through Filmmakers Alliance in the previous year.
The program is as follows:
"Oil Change" by Todd Luoto "Resonance" by Robert Beaucage "No Art on $2.00 a Day" by Laurent Malaquais "You're Only What I See Sometimes" by Donal Foreman "The Cycle" by Amanda Sweikow "My Last Day On Earth" by Jacques Thelemaque
The shorts will be preceded by a small selection of Public Service work created by FA members including two spots by Gina Levy - one for Get To Know Us First "Gina and Sonia" and another for The Children's Bureau "Decision" along with "Put It In A Book" by Rodrigo Garcia and produced by FA Member Tamika Lamison for her organization Make A Film Foundation.
The evening finishes with an elegant but high-energy party in the DGA lobby catered by some of Los Angeles' best restaurants.
