Party to the Max
HONORARY CHAIR: Dr. William H. Danforth EVENT CHAIR: Ray Hartmann
Party to the Max will salute the birthday and extraordinary life of the late Max J. Starkloff, founder of the Starkloff Disability Institute, a trailblazer for people with disabilities. The evening will take place against the backdrop of one of St. Louis' most treasured and historic landmarks, the newly renovated Grand Hall at Union Station. Enjoy cocktails, dinner, and Celebrity Speaker, Maysoon Zayid, who will share her humor and make you think twice about the word "disability". Her recent TEDTalks video was a viral sensation with over 4 million views of her powerful message about living rather than suffering with a disability.
ABOUT MAYSOON ZAYID An actress, professional standup comedian, and writer, Zayid jokes about her family, global culture, and her life with cerebral palsy. Her recent TEDTalks video was a viral sensation with over 4 million views of her powerful message about living rather than suffering with a disability. She co-founded the New York Arab-American Comedy Festival, now in its 10th year. Several months of the year, you will find Zayid in the Palestinian Territories running workshops for disabled and orphaned kids in refugee camps, using art to help them deal with trauma. And yes if you're an Adam Sandler fan, you'll recognize Zayid as the woman behind the beauty-shop counter in You Don't Mess With the Zohan.
