Point Five in Concert at Alley Stage
Like the city of Mineral Point itself, the local music group
known as Point Five is an interesting example of the
meshing of various backgrounds. The six band members
come from remarkably diverse environments, yet happily,
converging on the Mineral Point area and discovering a
common interest in playing ensemble acoustic music drew
them together.
With Paul Biere covering the banjo and dobro, Megan
Dudle plays the fiddle, Aaron Dunn is on guitar and vocals,
and Monica Dunn is featured with vocals and percussion.
Andy Hatch picks away on the mandolin, and Carole Spelic'
rounds it out on double-bass.
Point Five has been together since 2007. Their set list has
evolved to include original tunes with themes addressing the
calm beauty of southwest Wisconsin, moody meditations on
second chances, and the importance of home. The band
also continues to enjoy covering all kinds of Americana and
delivering rollicking bluegrass standards at full speed.
The annual summer Alley Stage concert has developed
into a real favorite for the band and audience alike. Who
doesn't like a spectacular setting under the stars? And a
special treat - this year's performance celebrates the songs
on the band's new CD, Pecatonica.
Point Five performs regularly at local venues, including
barn parties, grilling get-togethers, wedding celebrations,
and at watering holes like the Midway Bar in Mineral Point
and Dino's Bar and Grill in Dodgeville.
