PABLO NERUDA UNDER THE STARS
KPFK presents a special fundraising event for the 110th anniversary of PABLO NERUDA. The evening will take place under the stars and will feature a Multimedia presentation with Gregorio Luke on Neruda's life and poetry as well as live music with Angela Roa and Sajama.
Pablo Neruda (1904- 1973) is regarded as the greatest Latin American poet of the 20th century. Among his best work are Twenty Love poems and a Song of Despair, Canto General and Residence on Earth, among many others. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971. Neruda had a fascinating life he lived in Burma, Spain and France. He was also very active politically and fought for the dignity of working men and women into his last days, finally against Dictator Augusto Pinochet.
