Expressive Natural Dyeing with Indigo and Flowers
We must admit, we've fallen in love with natural dyeing at Brooklyn Grange.
Therefore, Rawan Rihani of Stone Fox Bride is back for more natural dye exploration on the farm! This time she's offering an exploratory natural dye class working with different techniques including Shibori and Itajime with Indigo, steaming flower petals in bundles, and tea-staining.
This is a class more about exploring different patterns and creating abstract expressive colors and patterns on natural fibers. Through folding, wrapping, clamping, gathering the fabric we can create wondrous patterns and beautiful surface design on the fabrics.
Loosen up, let your creativity flow, and see what you can create... dynamic natural dyes will create results you could hardly imagine.
We will provide all dye materials as well as 2 yards of fabric per student but we encourage you to bring your own fabrics to dye!!! White shirts, dresses, scarves, napkin, pillowcases... it's all dye-able as long as it's a natural fiber (think cotton, linen, wool, not rayon, polyester)
Students will leave with unique and useable yardage and with the knowledge and confidence to create their own art through dyeing with plants and flowers.
Tickets are non-refundable. We have a covered area so classes are rain or shine!
