Shelly Berg & An All-Star College Jazz Group!
Shelly Berg, head of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, returns to Sarasota with an all star jazz group from the University. Berg, a multiple Grammy Award winner, has received critical acclaim from many of the top jazz artists worldwide. Jazz legend Dave Brubeck said, "Shelly Berg is a great pianist with total command of the instrument." A Los Angeles Times review of Mr. Berg states "harmonic modulations that leaves the crowd breathless".
Shelly arranged and recorded with Arturo Sandoval on the Grammy winning CD "Dear Diz". He has performed worldwide with many of the top jazz artists and in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed and recorded with and arranged for renown jazz vocalists Patti Austin, Nancy Wilson, Bobby McFerrin, Kurt Elling, Monica Mancini, Dionne Warwick, Tierney Sutton, Lorraine Feather and Carmen Bradford and is musical director and pianist for Gloria Estefan. His TV credits include producing and performing at the 2013 National Tree Lighting Ceremony at the White House and a recent PBS special with Ms. Estefan.
Last year, Berg performed in a sold out concert in Sarasota with Dick Hyman and he returns this year with an all-star group of his jazz students from the University of Miami. His strong interest in music education is evident in the amazing talent of his students.
