Vision - "a look at life behind the scenes"
Visión - a look at life behind the scenes is one of the highlights of the Saratoga racing season, highlighting stirring artwork, fabulous food, a premier setting, and the opportunity to celebrate the many individuals who help make Saratoga special. As the principle fundraiser for the Saratoga County EOC's Latino Community Advocacy Program, the event will feature an opening reception for new photos to EOC's black and white photography project "Estamos Aquí" (We are Here). Estamos Aquí is a curated exhibit and ongoing project of the Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. in which Latino immigrants document their everyday lives and present their own photographs in order to share their experiences of living and working in the Saratoga Springs area. Through this inspiring photo collective, a unique insight is provided into the lives of those who contribute so meaningfully to our community.
The 7th annual Visión - a look at life behind the scenes, will take place on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at the famous Saratoga Race Course in The Rail.
Emma Dodge Hason has generously donated a photo to be raffled. The image can be found to the left of this box. Attendance at the event is not required to win this raffle item. It is $10 for one ticket and $25 for 3 tickets.
Here is a brief description of the photo:
He is shy, sweet 8-year-old.
He has eight siblings.
(EIGHT...8!)
He lives in a one room hut made of packed mud bricks.
He has no electricity or animals but he does have a tin roof.
He walks 40 minutes each way, each day to get water...sometimes twice a day and the water is always muddy and tastes of the fertilizers from the surrounding rice fields.
(but this was before Karen's well went in nearby, now he has clean safe water)
He carries a 10 liter jug on his head.
He wants to work on a farm one day.
