Hear the amazing versatility of banjo on old time, bluegrass and contemporary originals. This team has a few lifetimes worth of collective picking expertise! Host Bob Altschuler performs and records with Thirteen Feet of Bluegrass and Dyer Switch. He's been heard on NPR and radio and TV commercials and is a favorite regional banjo instructor. David Kiphuth's specialty is Round Peak-inspired claw hammer and bluegrass. He founded the seminal band Apple Country, and has played with Chestnut Grove, and Stacy Phillips and Phil Rosenthal. Jane Rothfield is a clawhammer player, tune composer, dance musician & band leader. She's been featured on NPR and on the mainstage at all the major eastern US folk fests. Emmy Award winner Gordon Stone is a Vermont-based, world-traveling musician whose uplifting originals combine bluegrass and jazz with African, world beat, and funk. His mesmerizing banjo exotica has made him a leading light in the jamband scene. Caffe regular Susan Trump plays fretted & fretless banjos on gentle songs that touch the heart, recall the past, and inspire the times ahead. Her relaxed teaching style and warm stage presence has inspired many new banjoists.
