Front Range Film Festival - The Forgotten Kingdom
The feature film of the Front Range Film Festival, The Forgotten Kingdom, is co-hosted by Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley (HFHSVV) and will be screened at 7 pm on June 28th at the Central Presbyterian Church, located at 402 Kimbark St in Longmont. Director and writer Andrew Mudge will be in attendance for a question and answer session following the screening of his debut feature film. Winner of 3 African Academy awards for Best Cinematography, Best Sound and Best Child Actor in May of 2014 as well as top awards at over ten international film festivals. The Forgotten Kingdom was filmed in the country of Lesotho. It tells the story of a young man returning to his community to bury his estranged father. Stirred by memories of his youth, he falls in love with his childhood friend and is drawn back to the mystical beauty and hardships of the people and the land he had forgotten.
The film is being shown to highlight HFHSVV's International ministry. This fall 18 community members representing many different business and community sectors of Longmont will travel 9,665 miles to Maseru, Lesotho to participate in relationship building and construction. The goal of the team is to support the great work that Habitat Lesotho is already engaged in, develop a foundation for exchange between the two affiliates and to help spread the word about the needs and work in Lesotho. The Forgotten Kingdom was a prime avenue for HFHSVV to explore the backstory of Lesotho's HIV/AIDS crisis and what ultimately led to the development of a support team to build homes for orphaned children.
