Enjoy a narrated trip to explore New London Ledge Lighthouse, located on the Thames River where the river opens out to Long Island Sound. The Project 'O' boat leaves from downtown New London's City Pier (behind the train station) and carries up to 50 passengers. Enjoy a 2.5-hour excursion with about an hour and a half on the actual lighthouse itself, where you will see displays and a short film about the history and construction of Ledge Lighthouse, and about what life was like for a lighthouse keeper. Watch out for Ernie, the ghost of Ledge Light. His room is up on the 3rd floor... You may even climb all the way up to the lighthouse lantern! Your ticket price supports both the Ledge Light Foundation and New London Maritime Society - and helps protect and preserve our area's lighthouses.
Admission to New London's Custom House Maritime Museum is included in the ticket price as is a 10% discount on purchases in the Museum Shop.
On the day of your trip we ask that you find yourself at the New London City Pier around 2:00-2:15. There you will find a blue Project Oceanology boat and a museum representative with the guest list. Once you have been checked in you can board the ferry to begin your adventure. Parking is available in the garage across from the train station or flat lots on Eugene O'Neill Drive.
