He's one of the founding fathers of Detroit ghetto tech music. He has been a major player in the Detroit ghetto tech/electro scene for 12 years. With over 70 releases under his belt, Godfather has DJ'd in almost every major city of every major state and country in the world-numerous times. He has remixed many major artists such as Fatboy Slim, Kid Rock, Luke, Westbam, Andrea Parker and many others. His turntable skills make him one of the most sought after DJs around the world. He founded Twilight 76, Databass Records, DET Only, and Juke Trax as an outlet to his, and other's, talents. The confluence of refined experimentation with noise (and conversely silence), funk rhythm and pure pop melody marks many of Akufen's projects. With releases on the Oral, Hautec, Perlon, Trapez, Revolver and Background labels, his debut full-length for Force Inc. entitled "My Way" took this underground sensation to a level beyond any of the new school of techno and house producers infecting the dance floors. Since the release of My Way, Akufen has gone on to remix Craig David, Massive Attack, Thomas Dolby, and Yello, to name a few. He now co-operates his own label, Musique Risque, handled and distributed by Cologne's Kompakt collective.
