Jackpot is a monthly party I've done with Still Life for over 3 years at the Commodore in Brooklyn. We focus on heavy funk, northern soul, 50s RnB, garage and psyche rock, salsa, cumbia, afrobeat, early disco, modern, whatever we feel really. Mostly groovy and/or raw tracks that came out on a 7" format between the 50s and the 70s. Vintage sounds for a modern age. Snap crackle and pop over overproduced bullshit. In a nutshell...real schitt.
Expect only the nastiest bboy breaks and soul sides from Philly's finest, SKEME RICHARDS. He runs the Hot Peas and Butter blog and is an official DJ for Rock Steady Crew, and plays his fine 45s all over the world. Looking forward to hosting an ace selecter that plays far more out in europe then the states...a crime.
Also crazy latin heat from two ppl who ran NYC salsa parties in the 90s, DJ VISION and LECHE. DJ Vision was part of the Vaya party, which was one of my favorite weeklies back in the day. First time I heard Harlem River Drive nuff said. Leche also threw numerous parties back in the day and is now booking DJs for the Kostume Kult camp at Burning Man. Both these fools can school you on latin for days.
Catch SONIDO MARTINES and his a-list cumbia selections before he splits back to La Paz for good. He's been hanging in NYC for a short minute, and recently Mexico City where he played the Vive Latino fest. Ridiculous digger.

This is the third loft edition of the party, at the cozy Gemini and Scorpio space located in Gowanus Brooklyn. Nice wooden dancefloor, plenty of seating, libations, and roof deck.
