Seskin & Sinclair, at St. James Church
Steve Seskin is a Southbay favorite, and when he brings fresh new songwriters along it never disappoints.
Known for his top Nashville hits recorded by stars like Tim McGraw, Neal McCoy, John Michael Montgomery, Kenny Chesney, Collin Raye, Peter Frampton, Waylon Jennings, Alabama, Mark Wills, and Peter Paul and Mary, Seskin is most proud of the impact he's made on young people with his Kids Write Songs program and his work with the anti-bullying program Operation Respect, spawned by the song he penned with Alan Shamblin: Don't Laugh at Me.
Joining Steve in the traditional Nashville 'in the round' format is songwriter Julia Sinclair - or as she is become know, simply 'Sinclair.' She's been criss-crossing the country, often with Seskin, while offering her extenstive instrumental prowess to new recording projects by other up and coming performers - as well as on Seskin's new CD "Some Sunsets."
Sinclair is poised for her break, to be sure. Forbes Magazine recently wrote "as a songwriter, instrumentalist, and pop-entity, she does have the goods. Her musical pedigree is bona fide: hailing from Upstate New York, Sinclair (born Julia Sinclair, but offering only the firm handshake of her last name) has spent the bulk of her life taking on the mantle of "journeyman musician"the kind of go-for-broke player who quickly finds herself adroit on whatever instrument is thrown her way... guitar, piano, bass, drums, and cello."
If you've seen the top rated TV show Nashville you know the format: Heartfelt and poignant songs, sung by their writers. Seskin is a legend and Sinclair is poised to be the one of whom we can say "we saw her when..."
