Vermont Pride Theater at Chandler's 4th Annual Summer Pride Festival
Vermont Pride Theater at Chandler's annual Summer Pride Festival presents the concerns and issues of LGBT Vermonters with the goal of building bridges of understanding between them, their families and friends, and the wider community.  This season brings three plays never produced in Vermont before:

Friday, July 18th:  "Last Summer at Bluefish Cove" - Jane Chambers' classic lesbian drama centered on the surprising outcomes of a straight woman's encounter with a lesbian community.  Directed by Jeanne Beckwith, drama coach of Norwich University's Pegagus Players, "Last Summer" will be repeated on Sunday, July 27th.

Saturday, July 19th:  "The Little Dog Laughed" - Douglas Carter Beane's Tony-award winning comedy of the foibles and vanities of today's stars of the silver screen.  Richard Waterhouse of Newbury, Vermont and New York City will direct a cast including equity actors.  "The Little Dog Laughed" will be repeated on Friday, July 25th.

Sunday, July 20th:  "Farm Boys" - David Zak, Executive Director of the Chicago-based Pride Films and Plays will direct his own new adaptation of Will Fellows' interviews of men who grew up gay on farms across rural America.  "Farm Boys" will be repeated on Saturday, July 26th.

Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 7:30; curtain is at 7:00 p.m. on Sundays.  All performances follow a celebrity introduction of the evening's show, beginning 30 minutes before the performance, in the Upper Gallery at Chandler.

Running throughout the Festival and for another month following will be an exhibition of the paintings of Andy Newman in Chandler's Lower Gallery.  Mr. Newman and his husband Gregory Maguire and their children make homes in Strafford, Vermont and Concord, Massachusetts.  A opening reception with Mr. Newman will take place on Friday evening, July 11th, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, July 22nd we will host a showing of the Moises Kaufman film "The Laramie Project".  The next evening, Wednesday, July 23rd, area students will present the poem cycle "October Mourning: A Song for Matthew Shepard" by Leslea Newman.
