The Art Theater is staging another classic of modern realistic drama, Ibsen's Hedda Gabler!
After our successful run with Chekhov's Three Sisters, we decided to work on another seminal work of theater from the end of the 19th century. Ibsen's play was first performed in 1891, and has been in practically continuous production around the world since then. It is one of the most highly regarded and closely studied works written by the Norwegian playwright. We hope you will come out the theater to see this shocking, beautiful play in live performance.
For this production, Adam Siegel (who played Kulygin in Three Sisters) created an entirely new translation from the original Norwegian. We have been working closely with it and are excited to share in this premiere of his script.
In the leading role of Hedda Gabler will be Tatiana Ray (Masha in Three Sisters). She will be joined by John McLean (Judge Brack), Tess Chism (Thea Elvsted), Lisa Halko (Aunt Julle), Baki Tezcan (Joergen Tesman), Dylan Wright (Berte) and Timothy Nutter (Eilert Loevborg).
Art Theater staff for Hedda Gabler includes Matthew Harral as technical director, Barbara Mortkowitz as prop assistant, Tyler Shaffo as stage manager and assistant director, and Timothy Nutter as director and costumer.
Tickets can be bought in advance here or at the box office, which will open 30 minutes before each show (cash or check only). Please help us appreciate and celebrate the work of our talented and volunteer cast and crew by attending the show!
