Feather Note Music Project

Feather Note Music is a mobile recording studio that travels to Native
American Reservations in United States.

We believe that listening and feeling heard are the two acts necessary
to curb the suicide rates of any community.  Feather Note will listen.

Mission: Give every opportunity to Native youth to learn and experience
music in a professional and educational environment  Work with Native
community and art colleges to include music and music business programs
so that these youth have a place to gain education in music that is
currently not available.

Being a member of the Lower Sioux Indian Community from Minnesota, I
have experienced a growing national epidemic of youth suicides within
reservations around the country. In the last decade, suicide among
Native Americans has increased 65.2%.  America's Native American
Reservations are plagued with youth suicides far exceeding the
percentage of other youth in the country. I believe, this high
percentage is due to the lack of opportunity to be creative, and to
express themselves, in a place that is for the most part shut off from
the rest of the world.  I think music can be an amazing therapy.  It can
be an outlet for feelings, and help to give life purpose.  I want the
youth to have a creative outlet and let them know they have a voice and
can be heard!  They are important and their life matters.

Feather Note is a mobile recording studio that travels to Native American
Reservations around the country.  I want to work with the youth, and any
tribal member, who wants to share their music, stories and their voice.
Also, I want to give them the tools to continue honing their craft in
the future by teaching them about recording and distributing their
recordings.  We will record any tribal member that is interested, and
will spend time in the studio if they have any sort of musical passion,
and even if they don't, in hopes of sparking an interest in this amazing
creative outlet.  We will also be traveling with a group of artists,
songwriters and other professionals that can be role models and can give
advice to the youth. The artists will be able to perform at the casinos
to be able to continue their dreams while helping youth.
Singer-songwriter and Native American Music Award winner Josh Halverson
has already agreed to travel and work with Feather Note Music. We plan
on attending events like Gathering of the Nations, United Tribes
International, Pow-Wows, Native American Music Awards, SXSW, and more.

Financials:  Our goal is to make Feather Note a sustainable project in
three stages.  First, capitalization.  We need $10,000 to outfit the
studio properly for traveling.  Another $3500 for fuel, lodging,
maintenance, and other expenses related directly to travel.  And finally
another $2500 for distribution and post production - these related
directly to revenue.  We already have some Native American radio
stations that would be interested in paying for programing that we could
provide while on the road in the range of $20-$40 a minute for program
material. The plan will be for us to supply as many Native Radio
stations with program material in order to fund and maintain this
project into the future.

Supporters and/or Sponsors: Will receive a
short video documentary every 4 months that contains exclusive material
and music. These videos will allow the people that support Feather Note
Music the opportunity to visually see the results of their support. Also
you will be able watch the company and youth grow over time, from where
ever you might be. We will also have room for advertising on the trailer
and truck, that would be open for people that would be interested in
showing their support on our traveling studio.

Risks: The risks come and go as everything does but we are prepared to
see Feather Note Music become a long term creative weapon to combat
youth suicides. No matter how small our budget is, our mission to get
out and help reach these Native youth will never change. We will find a
way to help and get out to these remote communities.

Final thought:
Feather Note Music wants to use the music to give the young people some
hope and a vision of a better future through the inspiration of music.
100 hundred percent of everything given to this project stays with this
project and will give these young people some hope for a better future.
Help us share our journey by becoming part of that journey with us.

Thank you, Elliot Christensen
