IGNITE A Choreography Showcase 2014
In 2006, the first IGNITE was produced by Heather Dale Wentworth and Lara Segura to serve up and coming San Diego-based choreographers who needed a supportive place to present their work. Being new dance makers themselves, Wentworth and Segura understood the difficulty facing artists in their community and combined their resources and experiences to create what has become a consistently sold-out weekend filled with dancing from a diverse group of choreographers and companies.
In 2012 IGNITE was opened up to artists outside of San Diego for the first time and the outreach was enormously successful, introducing many audience members to the work of talented choreographers from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Riverside, and even Jacksonville, Florida.
In it's eighth season IGNITE continues to bring a variety of new works to the San Diego community. IGNITE 2014 showcases works from Wentworth and Segura as well as guest choreographers: Jana Meszaros (San Francisco),Chard Gonzales, Rebecca Levy (Jacksonville Dance Theater), Elyssa Dru Rosenburg, West End Dance Company (Virginia), Rebecca Wilson and Zoey Marinello-Kohn.
