Scatterdance: The Show
Thursday & Friday, May 1 & 2 7:30pm Hamlin Park Fieldhouse (near Damen & Belmont) $10 Running time: 1.5hr (intermission & pauses included)
After a series of inclusive, process-oriented classes and workshops, Scatterdance's May performance bill offers a mix of sweet and strange contemporary dance: established and emerging artists, local and out-of-town talent, coming together to dance it like we mean it. Come and let the kinesthetic empathy take you places.
"Gentle Unison," a new work by Greer Dworman & Erica Ricketts, is a pile-up of carefully curated images.
Micheline Heal's "Perchance to Dream" is influenced by traditional Chinese dance and explores the pursuit of inner peace and personal responsibility.
Excerpts from "The Dismantlers" by The Space Movement Project examine the intrusion of the natural world into manmade environments.
Nora Sharp's "Two steps back" is the culmination of a 3-week residency, and the artist's first formal presentation and production of her own choreography.
This program is part of The Chicago Moving Company Performance Project. The Chicago Moving Company is in residence at Hamlin Park, through the Chicago Park District's Arts Partners in Residence Program, which unites artists and communities in Chicago's Parks.
