Glass Medea
Disembodied Voices and Brooklyn Glass announce their glassblowing-theater adaptation of Euripides' Medea at Brooklyn Glass, a fully operational glass-blowing studio in Gowanus/Red Hook. As the granddaughter of the sun, Medea's origins are in fire. And so Brooklyn Glass represents not only the environment in which we set our adaptation but also a central character of our drama; the ovens and tools of glass-blowing. Audiences will witness a unique collaboration between theatre and glass blowing: master glass artist Deborah Czeresko (Medea) and neon artist David Ablon (Jason) as well as Emma Stein and Alison Siegel as Medea's kid-apprentices. Puppeteer and performance artist Alexandra Young creates the world of Glauce. Noise composer Richard Kamerman creates the soundscape.
Performances of Medea run April 18th (an open dress rehearsal) 19th and 25th. 26th at 8 pm.,
