Holla, Can You Feel Me?
Holla, Can You Feel Me? Written and Performed by Rising Voices and Voices on the Rise Directed by Elizabeth Summers
As women, we are trained early in the craft of secret keeping. As men, we are trained to not show our emotions. How then do we talk to each other without judgment? Without fear? Without further injuring each other?
Holla is a performance about the impact of past incarceration, continual threat of violence, and the constant fear of returning to jail. Holla is formerly incarcerated young men and women attempting to answer the questions we are often too afraid to ask each other. Join us for an evening of storytelling and movement that examine the struggles facing young people across our nation, how they find joy at the heart of adversity, and how holding secrets keep us from living free. Holla, can you feel me?
