Description
The class will begin with a full-sized tasting of Scott Beattie's drink Rhubarbarella, while you hear a little from him about his background, philosophy, and the fundamentals of building a proper cocktail. You will then watch Scott create, step-by-step, the Beau Regards cocktail and taste the results. Next up is Lou Bustamante of St. George Spirits and Hangar One Vodka, who will talk about small batch distilling, including the extremely limited production of their agave spirit, Agua Azul.  Scott will then lead you through the essentials of creating a balanced cocktail, as you roll up your sleeves and make your own margarita-- a drink that everyone knows, but few construct properly.

Each guest will have extensive hands-on time with Scott, and instruction includes side recipes, garnish how-to, foams, and rim sugars and salts.  Drinks will feature fresh, seasonal fruit from the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.
Everyone leaves with the recipes from the days drinks and a 200 ml bottle of Hangar One Vodka.  A few lucky folks will win, via a raffle, a  full size bottle of the Agua Azul!

CUESA will provide some snacks, but it is recommended that you eat a solid lunch before attending the class. Signed copies of Beattie's book, Artisanal Cocktails: Drinks Inspired by the Seasons from the Bar at Cyrus will also be for sale ($25).

NOTE: No one under 21 years old will be admitted.

Notes
The event will be held in CUESA's Dacor teaching kitchen in the North Arcade of the Ferry Building.
