The Evangelical Phenomenon: What is it? How should the rest of us respond?
Has a friend or colleague ever told you that you need to be saved? Are you puzzled or exasperated by the priorities of your Evangelical relatives? Are you worried about the growing power of the Religious Right? Arm yourself with information. Our panelists understand fundamentalist Christianity and its growing role in our community. After offering choice nuggets of insight, they will answer questions from audience members who share your concerns. Panel includes Valerie Tarico, Ph.D. ex-evangelical and author of The Dark Side: How Evangelical Teachings Corrupt Love and Truth; Reverend Rich Lang, minister of Trinity United Methodist, Seattle, and lecturer on the rise of Christian fascism; and Rabbi Daniel Weiner of Temple de Hirsch Sinai. The evening will be moderated by David Domke, Ph.D. of the Communications Department at the University of Washington, author of God Willing: Political Fundamentalism in the White House, the 'War on Terror,' and the Echoing Press.
