A year ago, Red Line Roots (see below) set out to shine a light on our local music scene and the talented artists within. February 25th at the Lizard Lounge, a celebration of the music of the past year, the recognitions of the Big Red artists, and an all around wonderful night of honoring this strong music community will take place. Performances from Ian Fitzgerald, The Whiskey Boys, Mark Kilianski, Maggie Mackay, James Maple and more!
About Red Line Roots: With the ever present increase in Roots music in the Boston area and surrounding northeast there seems to be a small presence of music publications that will pay attention to the "little guy", the indie artist, the first record releasers, and folks that otherwise wouldn't get picked up in any press. My first and foremost mission is to provide those folks with an attentive and new ear to listen, review, and provide feedback on their most recent projects. I myself understand the plight of an independent musician (as I am one) and as a result, my goal in creating this blog was to help people who should be heard, get heard. The blog (at the time of the show) will be in existence for 1 year. In the past year there has been countless record reviews, shows attended, backstage passes to Newport Folk, and a ton of really great friends made as a result.
