Program 3/ Emerging Filmmakers Taos Shortz Film Fest 2014
A truly amazing line up of global short films by first time filmmakers and 1st directorial debuts. A must for film students and teachers...
The 2014 Taos Shortz Film Fest combines global cinema with the beauty of the high desert in Taos, New Mexico. Our festival venue,is centrally located to hotels, our free panel discussions, eateries and parties making this festival a "walking" adventure. TSFF will screen 120 short global films from 18 countries. Global and regional filmmakers are signing up to attend this year, eager to be a part of the festivities. There is a Q and A onstage with attending filmmakers after each program. Included in our programming is a New Mexico filmmakers showcase and a local Taos filmmakers screening. Other screenings include a Family Friendly program,Morning Artscapes program, Emerging Filmmakers program and a late night Friday Freakfest program.
HIGHLIGHTS 2014 Kicking off the fest is our Thursday afternoon Taos Locals program. Taoesenos show their hand in the art of cinema.
Global programming continues throughout the weekend, with 9 different programs dedicated to the genres of Documentary, Animation, Comedy, Drama and OTTO ( out of the ordinary)
Our Emerging Filmmakers program highlights student and first directorial debut filmmakers from around the globe. We are offering student group discounts and student rates for this one. Must email info@taosshortz.com for these rates.
A new edition to our festival is the Late Night Friday Freakfest! This screening is not for prime time veiwing. Do you like racy? sexy, scary? This one is for you.
Saturday Morning March 22nd offers our Family Friendly Program. Come enjoy light hearted films geared towards the yound and young at heart. Kids under 14 get in free.
We have a special treat Saturday nite/ Global Program 10. Laura Goldhamer, an animator and musician will perform live on stage to her 2 short films, mixing the performance and cinematic arts.
Sunday March 23rd begins with our Morning Artscapes Program which celebrates the artist in all of us.
Our "Tamalewood Zia Showcase" screens March 23rd and highlights all New Mexican filmmakers. A seperate Zia Award will be given to the best New Mexican film. Immediately following is the "Tamalewood Mixer" from 4pm to 6pm at Geraint Smith Photo Gallery where filmmakers, festival goers and the general public can mix and meet with NM Industry professionals to learn why the Land of Enchantment is the BEST place to make a film.

Saturday March 22nd 2:30 to 4pm/ Salon X TECH TALKS deals with showcasing the latest and greatest film equipment with instructors present to demonstrate the ins and outs of quality filmmaking.
Sunday March 23rd 12pm to 2pm / Wilder Nightingale Gallery MUSIC AND SOUNDTRACK SPEAKEASY Where exactly do you get the music for your film? A panel of 3 experts covers everything from songwriting, copyright laws and creating audio on the spot for post production editing.
Taos Shortz Film Fest Awards Ceremony will be held Sunday March 23rd at 6pm at the TCA. Immediately following will be the "Best of Fest "screening of all the award winning short films.
Mixed into this whirlwind 4 days will be late night parties, a filmmakers lounge, press media interviews and general film frolicking. Its definitely a year you dont want to miss! Buy tickets now, shows tend to sell out.
