My Name is Saoirse
A new play by Traverse 50 playwright Eva O'Connor will be the first Black Dingo Production of the year as part of our project to provide #FivePoundTheatre at new studio theatre venue, Discover 21.
My Name is Saoirse is a poignant and darkly funny coming of age story directed by Hildegard Ryan and starring Eva herself - an award-winning actress. The one-woman show combines the naturalistic text with dance, movement and physicality.
The story takes place in rural Ireland, 1987. Saoirse lives in a peach-coloured bungalow with her Da and her little brother Brennan. Her best friend at school is Dee, who has a glorious fountain of ginger hair and an arse so big it distracts all the men at Mass.
Saoirse prefers running round the fields to chasing after boys, but Dee has other ideas and one fateful Friday night in Wilson's pub will change the two girls' lives forever.
Thursday 13, Friday 14 & Saturday 15 February 2014 7.30pm (50 mins).
