Evening @ the Barn: Discovering the Rare, Early Mary Pickford
Hollywood Heritage in association with the Mary Pickford Foundation is proud to present an Evening @ the Barn: Discovering the Rare, Early Mary Pickford. The foundation has graciously opened its vaults so we can bring you two Pickford rarities...
The program will include a special screening of the 1915 Pickford feature film "Rags" written by Edith Barnard Delano and directed by James Kirkwood.Upon its release, the New York Telegraph touted: "As "Rags," Mary Pickford takes possession of the heart of the hero, and of the audience as well." Thankfully the film has stood the test of time.
We are excited to bring "Rags" to you alongside the rarely seen Biograph short "A Lodging for the Night" (1912). Both movies will feature a new score by Andrew Manley, who will also provide live musical accompaniment.
Elaina Archer, Director of Archive & Legacy at the Mary Pickford Foundation will provide an introduction to the films as well as give an update on what the organization has in store for the future. Classic film lovers and scholars won't want to miss this exciting double-bill!
