2014 OSA Coaching Conference
The Ontario Soccer Association will be hosting its annual Coaching Conference and on-field sessions on the weekend of March 23. Athletes will be participating in live demonstrations as high-profile guest clinicians and attending local coaches comment on the on-field clinics.
In the on-field led sessions this year there will be three guests from around the world:
Nick Levett
After much fanfare at last year's conference, Nick Levett returns once again to help lead this year's Ontario Soccer Coaching Conference. As the current National Development Manager of the English Federation and an Academy Coach at Fulham FC, Levett brings a wealth of experience in modern thinking on how to develop players in the youth game. Considered as someone at the forefront of player development, Levett brings with him the most modern and current coaching methods to this year's conference.
Bodo Menze
One of this year's key note speakers will be Bodo Menze. As the Head of Youth Development and International Affairs at FC Schalke 04, his resume speaks for itself. Employed at Schalke since 1991 and holder of a UEFA pro-licence he is the man who helped design and develop the Schalke's respected youth system for the modern age. Highly thought of in the German soccer community he was recently invited by UEFA to speak in Slovakia on the finer points of youth development. He is also the vice chairman of the ECA Youth Development Group, which develops reports on the status of youth academies across Europe
Stefano D'Ottavio
Professor Stefano D'Ottavio is one of the most sought after figures in Italian Football when it comes to player performance and he is bringing his unique brand of knowledge to the Ontario Soccer Coaching Conference this year. D'Ottavio has been responsible for the fitness of the Serie A and Serie B referees for a number of years. He was the physical fitness coach for the Italian football squad U23 Mediterranean Games in 1997, the U21 European Championships in 2000 and the Sydney Olympics the same year. And he has found success on the club scene as well working with several Serie A clubs, including A.C. Milan, Inter Milan and Livorno. Most notably, Professor D'Ottavio is currently the manager of the Human Performance and Training lab Carmelo Bosco and the Head of Technical Department Youth Sector for the Italian FA in Rome. He has published nine books, seven videos and over 222 manuscripts on football teaching and coaching.
