Another Evening of Awkward Romance
Wendy Herlich returns to the Tank with the second show in her "Awkward Romance" series. As directed by Ruthie Levy, Herlich, along with Aaron Phillips, plays multiple characters across seven humorous vignettes. The show offers an unvarnished take on the search for love and celebrates human beings at our most offbeat, endearing, and vulnerable.
Another Evening of Awkward Romance was most recently seen at FringeNYC 2013, where it played to packed houses and rave reviews. Time Out gave it four stars, calling it "perky, quirky, and easily crushed on" and nytheatre.com touted "lots of laugh-out-loud and endearing moments." David Cote praised Herlich's "considerable writing chops" and Theatre Is Easy called her "both a clever writer and a flexible, accessible performer." The New York Times mentioned Another Evening of Awkward Romance as a "show to consider" when booking tickets to the Fringe and the script was chosen to be published in Indie Theater Now's FringeNYC 2013 collection.
The first in the series, An Evening of Awkward Romance, ran at the Tank in February of 2012, and was called "fast-paced, hilarious, playful and often poignant" by The Happiest Medium. Ovation Award-nominated actor Phillips, who was called out as "talented" and "spunky" and praised for his "terrific chemistry" with Herlich, reprises his role from the Fringe production, as does Levy, who was lauded for her "upbeat and smooth staging."
Don't miss this chance to celebrate your Valentine's Day awkwardly!
