Shakespeare's ROMEO & JULIET
Shakespeare's timeless tragedy of two lovers gets a fast-paced retelling in Louis Fantasia's production of ROMEO AND JULIET. On a stage set designed to resemble an Elizabethan theater and using costumes of the period, Fantasia's staging of the play focuses on the sweep and scope of events that spiral out of control, racing two young lovers to their tragic end with the passion of "like fire and powder/ which as they kiss consume."
The play stars Frederik W. Hamel (South Coast Repertory; Kingsmen Shakespeare) as Romeo and Megan Goodchild (Furious Theatre; L.A. Weekly Best Actress nominee; Actors Theatre of Louisville; South Coast Repertory) as Juliet; and features Isabella Hofmann (Homicide: Life of the Streets; Dear John; Providence; Jag) as Lady Capulet; Michael J. Matthys (Guthrie Theatre; Company of Angels; Grey's Anatomy) as Mercutio; and Jill Holden (Grey's Anatomy; Desperate Housewives) as the Nurse. Brian Danner (Master and Commander; Last Stand of the 300) choreographs the fight sequences.
