GAY CAMP
After a sold-out run at FringeNYC, an extension at The Players Theatre, and a run at The Duplex Cabaret, the critically acclaimed hit comedy Gay Camp will return to The Duplex beginning February 28th and running every Friday night.
Gay Camp is a quick-change farce that follows the stories of several young campers at a gay reform camp. They have been sent away by their parents to be 'fixed'. Instead, they learn how to love themselves and one another.
Start with a deliciously evil headmaster facing off against a loud-and-proud young camper, throw in a few electrified fences, disco balls, Cher power ballads, gay Twister, Michele Bachmann surprises, slow-motion fantasies, lessons in Straight vs. Gay, whips, handcuffs, flannel, and more innuendos than you can shake a dildo at, and you've got Gay Camp.
Here is some of the buzz surrounding Gay Camp:
WINNER: FringeNYC 2012 "Best Ensemble" BACKSTAGE: "Critics' Pick" TIME OUT NY: "Critics' Choice", "Christian Mansfield, Philip Mutz and Ken Urso are adorable, boundlessly energetic and rarely less than hilarious." THEATER IN THE NOW: "three phenomenal comedic actors" THEATERMANIA: "detail-rich staging from director Phillip Fazio" THEATRE REVIEWS LIMITED: "the cast of three are absolutely hysterical"
