Tears of Joy - 20,000 Leagues under the Sea
Two very enthusiastic Jules Verne fans tell the story of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea like it's never been told before. This is a fun, rollicking, family-friendly adaptation of the Jules Verne classic, with Verne well known as the first science fiction writer. In our production, we present some of the most exciting scenes from the book, aboard the Nautilus and under the sea, combining humor with the science and technology imagined by Verne, much of it predicted with astonishing accuracy. Hold your breath and submerge yourself in Tears of Joy Theatre's underwater adventure!
This all new production was written by Jon Ludwig from the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, directed by Tears of Joy Theatre's Artistic Director Nancy Aldrich, designed by area artist Jason Miranda and features original music by Richard Emmet, former assistant to Frank Zappa.
This production pulls its style influences from steampunk with new and original set and puppet designs.
