Speech & Debate by Stephen Karam - Los Angeles New Court Theatre
This December, the Los Angeles New Court Theatre brings Stephen Karam's contemporary multi-media comedy Speech & Debate to the stage. When student Diwata doesn't get into her high school musical, she starts a Speech & Debate team. Coupled with a high school sex scandal, the misfit members of the club discover more about each other than they ever intended. Director and founder of LANCT Nathan Burkart says, "When we take hold of the things that make us different, there is a sense of strength and ability to love yourself for being different... this is where the comedy lies."
This production features Eddie Vona, Emily A. Fisher (LANCT's A Piece of My Heart and Fools), Sean Tibangin, and Nancy Stone. Speech & Debate runs December 5-20 with Friday and Saturday performances at 8 PM and Sunday performances at 5 PM.
